As the internet, media, and even prominent politicians continue to race to judgement in the so-called “Cornell Seven” case, new information continues to emerge about what happened on the night in question and in the weeks between the alleged “gang rape” at the Chi Phi fraternity house on the Cornell University campus in October 2024 and the alleged victim, who has since filed an anonymous civil lawsuit under the pseudonym “Jane Doe,” reporting it to authorities.
Megyn has extensively covered the allegations, Doe’s changing narrative, and what the law in New York State actually requires. But many appear to be falling into the same traps as in infamous stories like the Duke lacrosse case or the University of Virginia frat story. In those instances, there was seemingly a total disregard for due process or interest in the facts.
Thursday morning, video emerged of one of the men listed as a defendant in Doe’s lawsuit, Cornell student Gillio Lopes, being confronted on the Ithaca, New York, campus by a woman shouting that she was “ashamed” to be on the same campus as a “gross person.” And that is just the tip of the iceberg of what many of the accused–and even their attorneys–are facing.
