Beginning Thursday, we will release the first episode of our ‘Megyn Kelly Live’ tour documentary exclusively for members. The four-part series gives you the untold story of what happened behind the scenes of the tour last year.
This is not just ‘oh, we went on tour and we met a lot of great people,’ which we did and that is included. There was also a lot happening within the conservative movement at the time we did this tour and we had all of the players right at the heart of it, on camera, getting really candid with us about themselves, their relationships, their thoughts on the country and where this was going. I was there too, predicting and opining in ways that, I mean, we’ll see whether any of them turned out to be true. You will have to tune in and find out for yourself.
But it is not just about the tour. It is also about my life before and after it in some ways, and we are going to talk about a situation I have never talked about publicly before. Something happened last year right after Charlie died. You may remember that he and I were supposed to go on tour together. He was going to do our show in Bakersfield, and I was going to join him at one of the colleges he was visiting.
The first stop of his tour was Utah Valley University on September 10. We had actually been in discussions with his team about me possibly joining him at that stop. It was just so eerie. Ultimately, we settled on me going to what I think would have been the third stop on his tour, which was Virginia Tech. I was booked to do that on the day he was killed.
We were shocked and also happy to learn Turning Point was going to go through with the tour, but it was full of tension for those of us who did it. Michael Knowles did one in Minnesota. Glenn Beck did one in North Dakota. I did. Tucker did, and so on. Of course, because the whole environment changed after Charlie was murdered, everyone had to give thought to: Do I appear in a public place? What if I have received death threats? Do I need to take them much more seriously now because one has been acted on?
The whole time was very fraught, and we had just announced that I was going to be doing my own tour. There was obviously the question of whether we should follow through with it. Needless to say, we did. And our great producer Jake Whitman did a beautiful job on this project. He is the one who did the With Love, Megyn and Blonde Origin parodies. He is very talented, and we have been working on these four episodes for the better part of a year now.
I really think you are going to find this very substantive and, hopefully, enriching and telling about the show and the guests who come on it. Here’s a preview in this soundbite of that threat situation I am sharing for the first time:
