What’s Really Going on With Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s ‘Big Fat Disney Wedding’

A star-studded wedding appears to be in the works in New York City this weekend. According to the rumor mill, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are set to tie the knot Friday night at Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000 guests.

Reports indicate the festivities will kick off Thursday night with a rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater inside MSG. The main event is believed to be scheduled for Friday with a runtime that would put her epic Eras Tour sets to shame. A cocktail hour reportedly will get the party started at 4pm with the reception lasting until 2 o’clock in the morning on July Fourth.

Media and fans alike have camped out outside the “World’s Most Famous Arena” for a glimpse of the action. Crews have been hard at work loading in giant set-pieces that appear to resemble a castle, while carpeting has been installed on the venue’s steps.

So, is this the “wedding of the century” as some are claiming or just a giant fake out? On Thursday’s edition of The Megyn Kelly Show, Megyn and Maureen Callahan reacted to all the latest speculation.

Never Grew Up?

Initially, Callahan said she was “of the belief that this was an enormous distraction technique, like a CIA-level psyop” to get everyone looking at MSG while they snuck off some place else. Because while Swift might be one of the most famous women in the world, history has proven it is possible for very public people to get married privately.

“What I’ve been thinking about during this whole thing is JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette, who snuck off and got married on a remote island and nobody knew til it was over,” Callahan noted.

But the more details that have emerged, the more she is thinking this might just be the latest iteration of some strange Swift fantasy. “She is building a fucking Disney castle. I’ve seen the photos. They are wheeling in like monster balustrades… an enormous staircase… a baby grand,” she explained. “It is Taylor’s big fat Disney wedding.”

Callahan said the day seems like it will amount to “a seven year old’s idea of what a grand wedding is,” which plays into, in her view, “just how emotionally arrested” the pop star is. Megyn agreed Swift does seem to be “emotionally stunted,” which would not be surprising given how young she rose to fame.

“It does not engender wellness becoming a big star at a young age, and I’m sure she is arrested,” Megyn posited. “When you see her behave – whether it is courtside at the Knicks, etc. – she doesn’t telegraph to me like mature, together, powerful woman, even though she is. She is a powerful woman, but she telegraphs teeny bopper, insecure, unsure-of-herself person.”

Taylor’s Wildest Dreams?

If the reports about the wedding are accurate, Megyn thinks it all adds up. “At first, I really did not believe that she and he would get married at Madison Square Garden. It is so on the nose in terms of attention-getting and just so gauche – and then I remembered [this is what she does],” she said.

“She shows up in the players box for every single one of [Kelce’s NFL] games and makes sure she is front and center and seen on camera the whole time… She shows up at the Knicks game… and she makes sure she is courtside,” Megyn continued.

The behavior, in Megyn’s opinion, is reminiscent of another very famous woman who desperately seeks attention. “She’s got a little Meghan Markle in her, where, notwithstanding the fact that we all know who she is, she’s got to make sure she’s reminding us all she’s relevant,” she noted. “So, yeah, it actually does kind of track.”
