After dealing with the very public fallout of selling “tuck-friendly” women’s bathing suits with “extra crotch” coverage and pro-LGBTQ+ children’s apparel as part of very prominent Pride Month displays, Target is among the major U.S. retailers that appear to be scaling back the controversial merch and marketing campaigns.
A Daily Wire report found Target, Walmart, and Amazon are just a few of the big corporations taking a quieter approach to Pride Month 2026, but not everyone is on the same page. Tech giants like Apple, Google, sports leagues like the NFL and MLB, and even Sesame Street are still posting Pride-themed content.
Over at Disney-owned ABC, Good Morning America devoted several segments to the start of Pride Month – including a $10,000 donation to a dance troupe called Pride Salsa, which claims to “represent LGBTQ+ salsa dancers” and by “provid[ing] safe space and build[ing] inclusive community for our friends and allies.”
And then there was Jennifer Lopez. As part of the media tour for her new Netflix flick Office Romance, the actress posted a video on Instagram wishing her followers “a LOUD and PROUD month.” The post came days after reports surfaced that her daughter is now going by a male name and using he/him pronouns.
On Wednesday’s show, Megyn was joined by Adam Carolla, host of The Adam Carolla Show, to react to the very different takes on Pride Month.
A Turning Tide?
In Megyn’s view, Pride Month became a culture war issue because of how flagrant some of LGBTQ+ ‘celebrations’ became. “It [wasn’t] enough to be cool with somebody being gay or lesbian. There is a certain faction of this group that wants us to really celebrate, as Roger Ailes used to say, where you put your pecker… No, I don’t need to be celebrated for my choices in the bedroom, and I don’t need to celebrate anybody else’s,” she noted. “[But] for the first time in years, we are seeing very little on the Pride front as we celebrate Pride Month.”
Carolla said he has the same issue with Pride Month that he has with other months or days honoring specific groups. “I hate all of this stuff… The black month, the gay month, the trans month, I don’t want any of it. I don’t like any of it,” he explained. “I think it always sends a message that we need to fix things that don’t need to be fixed.”
“Like, every single Martin Luther King Day speech since I’ve been alive has always been, you know, we’ve made a lot of progress, but there’s still a lot to go,” he added. “It’s like, tell us specifically what you’re talking about in terms of a long way to go because that says to me you’re still kind of Jim Crow-y and maybe some of you can’t vote.”
Lopez Celebrates Pride
But not everyone is on the same page. Out in California, Democrat gubernatorial hopeful Tom Steyer made ‘trans rights and supporting men competing in women’s sports the closing message of his primary campaign; State Sen. Scott Wiener, who has a radical history on these issues, finished first in Tuesday’s primary to replace retiring Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
And then there is J.Lo, who is using Pride Month as a way to market her new movie. Watch:
“Hi, beautiful people. It’s Jennifer Lopez, star of Office Romance, and I am here to wish you a very happy Pride Month. Let’s be honest, you deserve all 12 months of the year, so make sure this one is extra, extra special,” she proclaimed. In fact, you officially have permission to skip work. Just tell your boss, Jennifer Lopez said it was okay. I am sure they’ll understand.”
The “Let’s Get Loud” singer also had a message for those who are not yet “loud and proud”: “But in all seriousness, I hope all of your months are filled with love, laughter, joy, and chosen family. And if you’re not out yet, that’s okay. We’re here, and we’re waiting for you whenever you’re ready. No rush, no pressure, just love. Now, let’s get loud and proud this month. I love you. Happy Pride.”
Gender Issues
The video came on the heels of reports that one of Lopez’s twins with ex-husband Marc Anthony, 18-year-old daughter Emme Muñiz, is now using a different name and pronouns.
The Grammy winner began using they/them pronouns when discussing her daughter several years ago, but now that has seemingly evolved. Last week, The Daily Mail reported the teen has “unveiled [a] new trans identity.” A graduation announcement reviewed by the outlet showed the student is now called “Oskar Muñiz” and goes by “he.”
Page Six, meanwhile, discovered a March post on a social media account dedicated to documenting the college decisions of graduating seniors from the Los Angeles high school Muñiz attended that identified her as “Oskar Muñiz” and used male pronouns.
“I would not be talking about this person if she didn’t put her out there, but J.Lo has got a child who is female, who was ‘non-binary,’ which, again, is not a thing, and now has come out as fully trans, so now she wants us to call her a him and he,” Megyn noted.
As with the host of Hollywood-types – including Lopez’s ex Ben Affleck – who have ‘trans’ and ‘non-binary’ children, Megyn believes it is not ‘gender confusion’ but rather a desire for attention that is influencing these kids.
“Here’s the problem: J.Lo has spent far too much time in front of the camera looking for accolades… and far too little time at home,” she posited. “Otherwise, she wouldn’t have this problem with her daughter, who is now so desperate for attention that she has declared she is… going to be someone named Oskar Muñiz and will officially become a ‘man,’ which is not possible.”
“It is not accidental, if you ask me, that her ex, Ben Affleck, is having the same exact issue with his daughter, who is pretending to be a man,” Megyn continued. “They need to go home and spend time with their children, who are clearly desperate for attention.”
