Inside the Fights Between Prince Harry and Former Prince Andrew Over Meghan Markle

Earlier this year, the man formerly known as Prince Andrew was added to the list of powerful people caught up in the fallout from the latest release of the so-called Epstein Files.

While Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s troubling connection to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was well known and well documented, he was arrested on suspicion of “misconduct in public office” in February in a shocking move by U.K. authorities.

Royal biographer and investigative journalist Andrew Lownie has been chronicling the former duke of York’s fall from grace for years now and made explosive claims about Mountbatten-Windsor and his ex-wife Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson’s connections to Epstein and even Sean “Diddy” Combs in his bombshell book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York

The paperback edition, updated with additional reporting on all that has transpired since its August 2025 release, hit shelves this week. And on Wednesday’s show, Lownie joined Megyn to discuss the book and the surprising warning Andrew gave his nephew, Prince Harry, about Meghan Markle.

Andrew vs. Everyone

According to Lownie’s reporting, Mountbatten-Windsor has a tenuous relationship with his brother, King Charles III, and his nephews, Princes William and Harry. Lownie said William has always found his uncle to be “a bit of a creep” and took issue with his criticisms of his wife, Kate Middleton.

“William was cross with Andrew because basically Andrew didn’t think that Kate was a suitable bride. She wasn’t posh enough,” he explained. “There’s a huge personal animus there, as well as William’s concern about the reputational damage [of Andrew] to the family. He is the guy who has got to pick up the pieces [as the next king]… The likelihood is Charles is just going to pass the baton on to William and let him solve the problem in the way the [Queen Elizabeth II has] done it with Charles.”

Andrew vs. Harry

While William also reportedly worked behind the scenes to evict his uncle Andrew from Royal Lodge, it does not compare to his brother’s issues with Mountbatten-Windsor. Lownie wrote that Harry has several derogatory nicknames for his uncle and there were fisticuffs between the two on more than one occasion.

At least part of the animosity stems from a ‘warning’ Andrew gave Harry when he first met Markle. He reportedly accused his nephew of not doing any due diligence on her past and later said their marriage would not last more than a month.

“Of all the things that [Andrew’s] said and done, as documented by this book, I have to give him the warning that he gave Harry when he got together with Meghan,” Megyn admitted. “He was not in favor of it, and he saw disaster written all over it.”

According to the book, Harry told William he was planning to kill his Uncle Andrew because he hated him so much. Megyn noted that Prince Harry has denied those events occurred, but Lownie said Andrew wasn’t the only royal with concerns about Markle.

“I think they all saw this. When I was writing my book on the Mountbattens in 2016, all the gossip in the royal household was about how unsuitable Meghan was and [how] it would all end in tears,” he explained. “Andrew was one of the people who was saying that, and so was William. Everyone could see this was a disaster waiting to happen, but I think Andrew was a little bit more vocal about it than some of the others and that upset Harry. There were fisticuffs. Both of them have resorted to their fists on numerous occasions.”

Ongoing Tensions

Lownie’s reporting has largely focused on Andrew and Fergie, but he said the concerns about Harry and Meghan’s marriage extend beyond the Royal Family due to some historical context.

“I can only go from what I’ve kind of read, but I think the feeling generally in Britain is the marriage is not going to last. Harry will, I’m afraid, still remain [in the U.S.] because his children are there,” he speculated. “Actually, that is exactly what Wallis Simpson did with Edward VIII. She kind of got him away from his friends and his relations, into another country, and she could control them then.”

While Simpson and Edward didn’t have children, Lownie said he was “kind of stuck with her” and “that seems to be the feeling here with Harry” as well. “He wants to build some bridges. I think his father is keen to reunite with him to see his grandchildren,” Lownie noted. “[But] William clearly is against it, [so] the king is caught between the two brothers. Whatever he does, he’s going to upset one of them.”

Even if King Charles is willing to make amends, Lownie believes concerns persist. “It is interesting that when there have been occasions where the king could have met Harry – and not least recently in the States – that didn’t happen,” he said. “I think there is always a suspicion that Harry will leak any encounter they have and the story will be sold to the newspapers.”

Ultimately, even royalty isn’t immune from awkward family dynamics. “It is a bit of a mess,” Lownie acknowledged. “No one wants a dysfunctional family like that, but I’m afraid that is the story of the Royal Family. They can’t seem to get on with each other.”
