The Strudwick File: Introducing Strud van Gogh, Part II

If you missed last week’s update, Strudwick needed a couple of stitches after chasing a bunny in the backyard and getting his left ear caught on the fence. That led to his new “Strud van Gogh” nickname and also six days sporting his arch nemesis (read: an Elizabethan collar):

He was none too thrilled with the arrangement, and there were no dull moments during the week of torture – ahem, healing.

Shaken, Not Stirred

First up, some lighter fare courtesy of Strud and his sister Thunder’s dog walker. Here are the pictures Megyn got from her during one tipsy outing:

Then came this gem:

The takeaway: “Thunder had one too many!”

Jail Break

But it wasn’t all fun and games. While Strud tolerated the cone when he was distracted on his walks, he wasn’t so rule-abiding at home. Case in point, this “JAIL BREAK” scene Megyn found in the living room:

How Strud managed to leave the cone perfectly intact with the tennis ball beside it? The world may never know. Megyn wondered if he may have learned a few tricks from a less graceful incident in April 2022 when he was rocking a cone (against his will!) after being neutered:

“It didn’t go very well,” Megyn joked.

Back at It

In case you were wondering how the recovery process wrapped up, we are pleased (well, kind of) to report that the stitches and cone did not slow Strud down one bit. When given the chance to make a break for it, he did not miss a beat.

“He got out again – our 12 year old left one of the doors open,” Megyn shared. “Gone is the pack of Ice Breakers the kids gave me in a Mother’s Day bag (but he couldn’t open the gum!), and he tried to eat my new nail polish but abandoned.”

We’ll call that a win!
