The Strudwick File: Introducing Strud van Gogh

Poor Strud found himself at the vet this week after an unfortunate incident with a bunny in the backyard that said bunny most certainly won.

“Welp. We chased a bunny under a fence today and our ear got caught on the fence,” Megyn said. “He tore his left ear! My little Vincent van Gogh!”

The damage was not too bad all things considered and Strudwick is already on the mend. But as you can tell from the pouty picture below, he is not thrilled about his current condition.

The good news? “Needed a couple of stitches and that required sedation, so he is pretty quiet this evening,” Megyn reported.

The bad news? “He is NOT happy about the cone, which supposedly must stay on for six days (no way),” she added.

The cone is basically Strud’s arch nemesis, but, fortunately, we do know of a very effective DIY Elizabethan collar thanks to Megyn and Doug’s ingenuity. Last summer, our four-legged friend had a little too much fun chasing tennis balls and his paws required some TLC. While Strud was supposed to wear a cone to prevent him from licking them, Megyn knew that was never going to work. So, she brilliantly tried this instead:

Yes, that is a neck pillow. And yes, it actually worked extremely well. Here’s hoping they have it handy just in case.

In the meantime, Strud is allowed to go cone-free for a few hours a day and he seems to be soaking up every moment of freedom… or maybe he just likes the way he looks in his stylish new accessory!

“The vet said he could wear a headband for his walks,” Megyn shared. “So fashion-forward!”

Feel better, bud!
