Megyn Shares Why She ‘Loved Every Second’ of Going to See Her Daughter’s High School Musical

We have been talking so much about negative things this week. The Iran war, MAGA being divided over it – it is all stressful. But something wonderful happened in my life this past weekend that I thought I would share.

My daughter was in the high school musical. This year, they did Mamma Mia and we went to see these young men and women put on a play that was spectacular. My daughter is a ninth grader, so she was just in the chorus. But the performances had me slack-jawed. I couldn’t believe my eyes from the singing to the high notes to the pizzazz.

I really hope that, especially the two lead girls, go on to perform on Broadway. The girl who played Donna got up there and was just belting it out. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. I couldn’t cheer loudly enough. The guys also gave it their all with the singing and the dancing. I was so moved.

All of this is to say: You should go to your high school play. Even if you don’t have a kid in the production, go see it. It is uplifting. It is joyous. It is restorative. It makes you feel good inside to see the youth of this country doing something amazing that they are great at. I left on cloud nine, and I think everyone else did too.

So, hats off to the high schoolers who actually acted and sang and danced, and the tech crew who put it on, and to the director who didn’t have a lot of time for this particular musical but got it on – notwithstanding snow days and a short window – in a way you would never have known they were up against any of those challenges. I loved every second of it.
