Shocking New Details Emerge During Pre-Trial Hearings in Idaho Murders Case

More than two years have passed since four University of Idaho students – Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin – were fatally stabbed in their off-campus residence in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13, 2022. On December 30, 2022, authorities arrested suspect Bryan Kohberger at his family home in Pennsylvania after a cross-country manhunt.

After successfully arguing for a change of venue that moved the trial from Moscow to Boise, a trial date was finally set for August 2025. But there was a pre-trial hearing in late January that proved to be an important one, as it revealed shocking new information that was previously unknown and does not appear to bode well for the prosecution.

Among the details that have now emerged are questions over the legality of how the FBI obtained the DNA match that led to Kohberger’s arrest, the discovery of the blood of two unidentified males at the crime scene, and the unreliability of the only ‘eyewitness’ in the case. On Friday’s show, Megyn was joined by Howard Blum, author of When the Night Comes Falling, to discuss the shocking developments and what it means for the case moving forward.

The DNA Drama

Blum explains how the FBI may have illegally obtained Kohberger’s DNA, whether his defense team will be able to get the DNA match thrown out entirely, how crucial that single piece of evidence is to the prosecution, and more.

Unidentified Blood

Megyn and Blum break down the new details about blood from two unknown males in the Idaho college murders house, how this helps the defense, the possibility Kohberger could have planted this evidence, and more.

Witness Reliability Questioned

Megyn and Blum explore how the ‘eyewitness’ testimony from the surviving roommate is falling apart, how her story has changed, what she is now admitting about her physical state the night of the murders, and more.
