I came into this trial completely believing that Donald Trump had a one-night stand with porn star Stormy Daniels and an affair with former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal.
I still think he had a relationship with Karen McDougal. That affair allegedly lasted for months, if not years. There are more details available about it, some of which came up in Michael Cohen’s testimony today.
When Cohen confronted Trump with the fact that McDougal was shopping the story around, his first response – according to Cohen – was, “She is so beautiful.” They definitely knew each other. There are pictures of them together. I still believe it.
But I no longer believe the Stormy Daniels story. At the very least, I have serious doubts about it. I would not find beyond a reasonable doubt – not that the jury has to – that they had an affair. She came across as so not credible on the witness stand last week. I do not put any stock in what she said or her new #MeToo remembrances.
I now believe the whole thing could actually have been a setup. She met him at the celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. Maybe she went to his hotel room, maybe she didn’t. But I can’t believe a word out of that woman’s mouth.
