Over $450,000 Raised for UNC Fraternity Bros Who Protected American Flag from Anti-Israel Protesters

There was a moment of sanity amid all the campus chaos this week when a group of students at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill took a stand against anti-Israel agitators by protecting the American flag.

Megyn praised the young men for their patriotism, and it appears as though they have a lot more fans. A GoFundMe page set up to throw the fraternity a “rager” has now raised nearly half a million dollars.

On Thursday’s show, Megyn was joined by the hosts of The Fifth Column – Kmele Foster, Michael Moynihan, and Matt Welch – to discuss the fraternity brothers’ actions and why it serves as a glimmer of hope.

Stars and Stripes

On Tuesday, the UNC-Chapel Hill campus started to look a lot like Columbia and UCLA. Anti-Israel protesters replaced an American flag in the quad with a Palestinian one while chanting the usual lines about genocide and revolution. But, in a refreshing turn of events, school leaders, law enforcement, and, yes, fellow students stepped in.

A group of men who have since been identified as members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity grabbed the Stars and Stripes — which had been flying at half-mast in honor of the four officers killed in the line of duty in Charlotte on Monday — before it could touch the ground and stood with it while being pelted with water, debris, and taunts.

Student Guillermo Estrada, who documented the incident on X, reported that the group “stood for an hour defending the flag so many fight to protect.” Eventually, the Palestinian colors were taken down and Old Glory was raised amid chants of “USA! USA!”

The Fundraiser

It did not take long for the photos and videos of the students to go viral and inspire a GoFundMe page. A fundraiser called “Pi Kappa Phi Men Defended their Flag. Throw ’em a Rager” has, as of publishing, raised over $450,000 from more than 14,000 donors.

And the description of the page is so good, Megyn thought it deserved its own dramatic reading:

Commie losers across the country have invaded college campuses to make dumb demands of weak University Administrators.

But amidst the chaos, the screaming, the anti-semitism, the hatred of faith and flag, stood a platoon of American heroes. Armored in Vineyard Vines and Patagonia, fueled by Zyn and White Claws, these triumphant Brohemians protected Old Glory from the unwashed Marxist horde — laughing at their shrieks and wails and shielding the Stars & Stripes from Soviet missiles.

These boys… no, men, of the UNC Chapel Hill Pi Kappa Phi, gave the best to America and now they deserve the best.

Help us raise funds to throw this frat the party they deserve, a party worth of the boat-shoed Broleteriat who did their country proud.

Amid the outpouring of support, the fundraiser’s organizer, John Noonan, updated donors that “a world class event planner named Susan” is already working on the party. Her credentials apparently include working at the White House.

Additionally, “another fine American is wheels down in North Carolina… and working to identify all of our Noble Born brochachos, who stood down the frumpy hordes with nothing more than a pastel shirt and a smile.”

Noonan wrote that he hopes the fundraiser serves as “a message to every college campus in America, from sea to shining sea” that “this country is great,” “this country is worth defending,” “that flag means something,” and “America takes care of her own.”

Megyn agreed. “It just gives you hope,” she concluded. “I love seeing those guys put the Stars and Stripes back up… We should dispatch them to all the college campuses in America.”
