It is another day filled with breaking news from all over the country, and another day where we do not know who is moving on to the runoff in the major California elections for governor and Los Angeles mayor because they have to wait for the mail-in votes to arrive.
There has apparently been a surge in mail-in votes, especially from Democrat areas of California. As a result, it is apparently just too difficult for them to predict how these races are going to come down.
I’m sorry, but if you don’t smell a rat, your olfactory nerves are not working. This is sick. This is no way to run an election. There will be no public confidence in this if it doesn’t track the way the actual in-person vote tracked on Tuesday. This is third-world crap we are looking at right now.
Why, in 2026 America, does it take a state days or, some are estimating, weeks to figure out who won an election? Can’t we be do better than this by now? It is embarrassing.
California should take a lesson from Florida. They are both sunshine-y states, but that pretty much ends the similarities. Florida got its act in gear after the 2000 presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore. Bush v. Gore was a nightmare. They used that experience to figure out how to do it better, and they have had it figured out ever since. Take notes, California.
Right now, we have Republican Steve Hilton leading in the governor’s race and Spencer Pratt sitting in second behind incumbent Karen Bass for L.A. mayor. The top two finishers in each race move on to the November general election, but neither is being called because they think Tom Steyer at the gubernatorial level and Nithya Raman at the mayoral level may surge miraculously once the mail-in votes are counted, overtake one of the top two spots, and leave the Republicans in the dust.
No one is going to accept this. Republicans make up over 40 percent of the of the electorate in California when you factor in right-leaning independents and yet are not represented at the state level. The state is in tatters, as is L.A. with half of the city burned down, homeless people everywhere, and hypodermic needles on every sidewalk.
Now the public gets to vote and have a say, but we have to wait days – or weeks! – before we know the result?! You have a lot of Californians out there who want real change. This could actually happen for the first time in a long time, and it just feels very much like it is in serious danger of getting stolen out from under them.
You guys know I am not a big ‘stolen election’ person. I don’t tend to believe government is that organized, and I want to see cold hard proof if somebody is going to make allegations of a stolen election. But how are you going to have confidence in the outcome in California when they are talking about a surge in mail-in votes, especially from Democrat counties, and more than half of the vote outstanding in mail-in balloting? More than half!
This is not just military members serving are overseas; this is just the regular populace there. And you can mail in the ballots on Election Day. They don’t have to be in by Election Day.
In any event, you can control any election, if you have more than half of the vote outstanding.
