The Strudwick File: Strud Goes Bananas, Part V

You’ve probably heard some version of the adage “once is happenstance; twice is coincidence; and three times is a trend.” Well, what happens when the third instance turns into a fourth and the fourth into a fifth?

That is the question we find ourselves pondering this week as we’ve reached the – count ’em – fifth installment of our “Strud Goes Bananas” series. The saga began almost two years ago to the day, when our old pal managed to steal a bite of freshly baked banana bread before it was successfully wrestled away.

Last January, Strudwick learned that you can have too much a good thing, when he sampled not one, not two, but six bananas – Dole sticker and all – that did not agree with this stomach. In March, Doug caught our banana bandit red-pawed. It was hard to say exactly how many of the tropical treat Strud downed that time (though credit to him for leaving at least some of the peels behind), but Doug guesstimated it between two and five.

By July, Strudwick was at it again. While enjoying his summer at the beach, Strud decided to indulge in what has clearly become one of his favorite snacks. Unlike in previous incidents, he actually left the stems and (most) of the plastic wrap behind.

And leads us to present day. Megyn spotted some remnants in the living room earlier this week and, admittedly, wasn’t exactly sure what was before her:

“Yes, we have no bananas,” she shared. “At first, I didn’t recognize what I was looking at. Then, I realized the brand new bunch of bananas was gone.”

The nubs of the stems and the shard of packaging was, in fact, all that remained. And no, unlike earlier iterations of this tale, he did not throw anything up after this indulgence.

And with that, the banana bandit (successfully) strikes again. Until next time…
