Ten days into the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old missing mother of NBC News anchor Savannah Guthrie, the FBI has released photos and videos of a potential suspect captured from a doorbell camera on Nancy’s property.

In the footage released Tuesday, an armed man wearing a ski mask, gloves, and backpack can be seen approaching the front door of the home and tampering with the Nest camera on the morning of her disappearance.

Spreading the Word

The photos and videos were shared by the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department. According to FBI Director Kash Patel, law enforcement has been working to obtain the imagery for the better part of a week.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors – including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual data located in backend systems,” he wrote on X.

Working with those partners, Patel said authorities “uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.” He noted that the breakthrough came “as of this morning.”

NBC News reported the Guthrie family was notified about the images, but they did not recognize the person. That is when the FBI chose to post the footage publicly in the hopes that it could lead to a break in the case. Savannah Guthrie also posted the photos and videos on Instagram, imploring the public for help. “Someone out there recognizes this person,” she wrote in the caption. “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

On Thursday, the FBI released new details about the suspect seen on the porch. Authorities said they are looking for a male who is 5’9” to 5’10” tall, with an average build. According to the FBI, he was carrying a black, 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.

Additionally, the bureau increased its reward from $50,000 to up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit http://tips.fbi.gov
