Megyn Shares Why Her Unexpected Encounter with Joe Scarborough ‘Restored My Faith in Humanity’

I have a shocking story to tell you about Joe Scarborough. He and I actually had a nice moment this week.

I went to the Mediaite party Monday night for its annual “Most Influential in Media” list. Mediate is a website that writes about the media and personalities in it, and it invites a bunch of people in the media to come to this event. It is sort of the one time of year where you cross paths with people who you may not be able to stand; people you have been criticizing; people who have been ripping you. But it is kind of like detente for a night.

It’s a nice time. I enjoy it, and, believe it or not, Joe Scarborough came over to me while I was there. I admit that I didn’t know where this was going to go because it could go up any number of places. But he ended up saying something really sweet about Mark Halperin, who is his friend, and the host of Next Up with Mark Halperin on the MK Media network. It was something to the effect of, ‘Thanks for helping Mark get back on his feet.’ And I was like, ‘I love Mark Halperin. Thanks for saying that.’ He was sincere and genuinely warm.

It just felt like a good reminder as we go into the holidays. These people who we all rip on and who rip on us, we are all human. We are in the same game. We have plenty of fodder to pick back up with tomorrow, but it kind of restored my faith in humanity. Joe Scarborough knows I have ripped on him endlessly, but he made a point of putting that to the side because he cares about his friend, and I do too. It was a nice moment.

I really hope that you enjoy your time with your families, with your loved ones, and with your friends these next couple of weeks and that you get back to what matters, which is not online stuff. Stop focusing on the darkness that has been in the news lately and just try to spend real time with your loved ones and the things that make you happy and make you you.

Who makes you you? It starts within you, but it definitely gets massive deposits every day from the people you surround yourself with. So, choose well. Amplify what is good for you, and minimize what is not. Have some quiet time offline with a book, with some music, in church. Get back in touch with God, if that is for you.

Happy holidays to you all. God bless you.
