Millions turned out as the “No Kings” coalition held rallies in several cities across the United States on Saturday to protest President Donald Trump and his administration.
The leftist protesters spent the weekend wishing death upon conservatives – but you wouldn’t know it looking at legacy media coverage, which described the No Kings events as “peaceful” and “joyful” with, as The Washington Post put it, “a street carnival-like atmosphere.”
What the Media Missed
What was missing from the coverage were terms like “liberal,” “leftist,” or “socialist” and any sort of deep dive into all the left-wing organizations – including Communist Party USA, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, and Al Sharpton’s National Action Network – that took part and, in some cases, funded the protests.
As reported on Monday’s AM Update, a network of radical activist organizations and major donors worked behind the scenes to fund and coordinate the No Kings movement. The Epoch Times reported the New York City arm of the No Kings Day protest was organized, in part, with support from Communist Party USA.
According to The Daily Caller, Communist Party USA has routinely expressed support for former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, known for torturing and slaughtering thousands of people. A No Kings spokesperson told The Epoch Times the group only participated in New York, did not host any other event, and their participation is not a reflection of the national arm.
Follow the Money
Investigative journalist Asra Nomani’s Pearl Project, meanwhile, discovered anti-Israel activist groups embedding themselves into the No Kings movement. “The movement’s polished ‘pro-democracy’ branding masks a coordinated network of Democratic tax-exempt nonprofits and labor unions, political action committees, coalitions and for-profit protest consultants that include some of the most virulent activists against Israel, including self-declared socialist groups like the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Democratic Socialists of America and Students for a Democratic Society,” Nomani wrote for Fox News.
Progressive organizing group Indivisible founded by husband and wife activists Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, were one of the key groups behind the day, reportedly receiving a $3 million grant from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. Indivisible is the same group responsible for organizing the anti-Elon Musk and anti-Tesla protests and routinely orchestrating viral rowdy moments at GOP town halls, as reported by AM Update earlier this year.
Nomani’s Pearl Project cataloged 265 of the protest’s mostly non-profit partners. “They call it ‘No Kings,’ but what they’ve built is an empire of tax-exempt organizations doing the Democratic Party’s work on the taxpayer’s dime,” Jennica Pounds, the computer scientist behind DataRepublican.com, told Nomani.
Troubling Displays
You would also be hard pressed to find any corporate media coverage of the protesters, who, despite knowing they were on camera, had no concern about describing the violent ways they fantasize about seeing President Trump, U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) agents, or White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller murdered.
That’s not to mention those who mocked the assassination of Charlie Kirk. One protester appeared to come dressed as Kirk’s alleged assassin; others wore t-shirts that read “Make Assassinations great again”; a group called “Denver Communists” had a booth with a sign that said “Charlie Kirk had it coming – Change my mind.”
She ran through some of the most disturbing displays on Monday’s edition of The Megyn Kelly Show:
On a Lighter Note
To be fair, there were some lighter moments as well. Scores of protesters, who appeared elderly, frail, and mostly white, called themselves “Grantifa” or a grandparent Antifa member. Some wore costumes, played instruments, and even took part in choreographed dance routines.
Videos show the Lincoln Project’s George Conway trying (and failing) to get anti-Trump chants going at the No Kings protest in Washington, D.C. Megyn and After Party host Emily Jashinsky reacted to the awkwardness that ensued:
Not to be outdone, Democrat lawmakers like Sens. Chris Murphy, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren seized the spotlight to rail against what they called “injustices” under President Trump and cast themselves as defenders of democracy. There were even tears involved.
Ultimately, Megyn pointed to a tweet from Mike Cernovich that she believes summed up the weekend: “They get to hold their protests without a care in the world. No snipers on buildings shooting at them. No masked thugs attacking them. Every media outlet fawning over them. Irony levels fit for a King.”
You can check out Megyn’s full interview with Jashinsky by tuning in to episode 1,175 on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you like to listen. And don’t forget that you can catch The Megyn Kelly Show live on SiriusXM’s Triumph (channel 111) weekdays from 12pm to 2pm ET.
