Megyn Shares Behind-the-Scenes Photos from Her Trip to D.C. to Present an Award to Pete Hegseth

We all know Megyn likes to cut things close. She gets to the airport with moments to spare (a stark contrast to her husband Doug who prefers to leave plenty of time), and she essentially lets her gas tank get to empty before she refills.

The latter once almost prevented her from making to air on time for The Megyn Kelly Show (you can read more about that here), and she almost had another incident this morning – but it was for a very different reason.

“I almost did not make air today… My lungs are burning. That was a that was a close one,” she shared at the top of the show. “The reason I almost missed air today is because I went down to Washington, D.C., yesterday to see my pal Pete Hegseth, the secretary of war, and participate in an event honoring him at the Kennedy Center.”

Secretary Hegseth was awarded the Great American Exceptionalism Award at the Nestpoint Foundation’s inaugural American Exceptionalism Awards Gala. The event was billed as a “night dedicated to honoring those whose lives tell the story of America at its best.”

Megyn was asked to present her longtime friend and former colleague with the flagship award, and she said it turned out to a “beautiful night” in the nation’s capital… even if it did lead to a slightly stressful morning of travel.

Below are some behind-the-scenes pictures from the evening:

Old Friends

Megyn snapped a selfie with the man of the hour and his wife Jen. “There I am with Pete and his beautiful wife Jen… They are just an adorable couple,” Megyn said.

Familiar Faces

Another familiar face? The Megyn Kelly Show favorite Batya Ungar-Sargon. Megyn said she also ran into her old friend Harris Faulkner from Fox News, who was there to accept the Excellence in Journalism Award.

Tons of Talent

The night also featured performances from country music stars Taylor Kinch (left), who was there to pay tribute to military service members, and Anne Wilson (right), who opened the gala with a special number. Megyn called them both “very talented young musicians.”

Honor Code

Megyn and Sec. Hegseth left the stage together after he got his award. “It was great to see Pete,” she said. “He’s doing so well.”
