Megyn Shares the Funny Case of Mistaken Identity She Experienced at Trump’s Inauguration

Megyn was in Washington, D.C., with her family for Donald Trump’s inauguration last month. She spoke at the president’s rally on Sunday and attended many of the weekend’s other festivities. Along the way, Megyn had a chance to meet and speak with so many fans of The Megyn Kelly Show, and it was the highlight of her trip.

But as it turns out, not everyone realized who they were meeting.

During her speech at CPAC last week (you can check out her full remarks here), Megyn shared that one young man who asked to take a picture with her likely wound up pretty disappointed once he realized he had the wrong person. We’ll let Megyn explain what happened:

Mistaken Identity

“I have to tell you – especially now that I do my own show in my own studio – I don’t get out enough, and it is wonderful to actually get out there… and actually glad hand with people who watch the show. Yes, it can be a little petty because, at an event like this, people come over, they say the nicest things, and you can almost be in danger of getting a little too drunk on your own wine.

The good thing, however, is God is always there to balance things out for you – God or my mom – and bring it down a peg when you need it. And this reminds me of the inauguration. I met so many great people who were loving Trump. They were loving the rebirth of our nation.

This one guy came over to me. He was so excited to see me. He was like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t believe it. Can I please have a picture with you?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, of course. I’d be happy to.’ We took a selfie. He said, ‘I’m sending this to my mom. She is never going to believe this.’

I’m thinking, This is a pretty big deal. I’m making an impression on this man. When he walked away, we heard him say, ‘I can’t believe I just met Carrie Underwood.’

So, thank you, God. It is important to remember who you are and who you definitely are not. In this case, it was kind of a compliment either way though.”
