Joe Rogan’s three-hour “conversation” with Donald Trump has over 35 million views (and counting) on YouTube, never mind the numbers from the audio podcast. While it remains to be seen if Kamala Harris will make an appearance on Rogan’s hugely popular program before Election Day, he is shedding new light on the negotiations with the vice president’s team.
The TLDR: Harris will only commit to an hour and wants Rogan to come to her.
Rogan’s Reveal
The sit-down between Rogan and Trump has certainly not struggled to amass views, but there have been reports that it is difficult to find the episode through normal search channels.
Rogan took to X early Tuesday to post a direct link to the Trump interview and also shed some light on whether or not people can expect to hear from Harris in the closing days of the campaign. “For the record the Harris campaign has not passed on doing the podcast,” he wrote.
But there are some holdups, according to Rogan. “They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour,” he explained on X. “I strongly feel the best way to do it is in the studio in Austin.”
He also left the door open for something to change. “My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a human being,” Rogan added. “I really hope we can make it happen.”
Will She or Won’t She?
Some on social media have said Rogan should make an exception for Harris, but Megyn suggested the Harris team may have been trying to force the podcaster’s hand with their “obnoxious” demands. “Is there a person on earth who thinks Kamala Harris can handle a three hour interview with Joe Rogan,” she asked. “She knows she can’t, her team knows she can’t, and so they said ‘maybe just an hour’ and ‘you have to come to us’ to try to make it a deal breaker.”
In Megyn’s view, they left Rogan no choice but to say no. “They are setting these impossible conditions so that he will say no,” she explained. “And he is just standing there saying, ‘This is the Joe Rogan show. You do it here in my studio… We sit and chat for three hours. That is the show. I don’t change the show for you. You either want to do it or you don’t the way it is being offered to you'”
Harris’ answer, at least so far, seems to be ‘pass’ even in the wake of all the interest Trump’s sit-down with Rogan has generated. “She won’t do it because she knows she can’t,” Megyn said. “And by the way, she knows the ratings would not hold a candle to those that Donald Trump got.”
There is, however, a rumor that Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, may be making the trip to Austin. “I’ve got to say, it is a little weird… to have the warm-up act come after the star, but it will probably get great ratings,” Megyn noted. “If I am Team Trump, I am probably doing that too… to get an unvarnished view between J.D. Vance and Joe Rogan’s massive audience who have been misled about him.”
