The Democrats appear to be trotting out all the familiar faces they can find ahead of the 2024 election.
After President Joe Biden raked in over $25 million at a fundraiser with former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton last week, Hillary Clinton began hitting the media circuit with a get out the vote message of her own. Her words of wisdom for undecided voters? “Get over yourself.”
On Wednesday’s show, Megyn was joined by Glenn Greenwald, host of Rumble’s System Update, to discuss Clinton’s ‘advice’ and why it could be a gift to the GOP.
‘Get Over Yourself’
During an appearance on Monday’s The Tonight Show, Clinton was asked by host Jimmy Fallon what she would say to voters who are frustrated that 2024 is shaping up to be a rematch of the 2020 election between Biden and former President Donald Trump.
FALLON: What do you say to voters who are upset that those are the two choices?
CLINTON: Get over yourself. Those are the two choices.
FALLON: Yeah, love that. Good.
CLINTON: And, you know, it’s kind of like one is old, and effective, and compassionate, has a heart, and really cares about people. And one is old and has been charged with 91 felonies.
FALLON: Okay, interesting.
CLINTON: I mean– I don’t understand why this is even a hard choice.
Megyn said Clinton’s condemnation was palpable. “‘Get over yourself.’ You don’t matter. Do what’s right for the global citizenry, which is clearly to elect ‘the compassionate one with the heart,'” she noted.
But as Megyn laid out earlier this week, Biden’s ‘compassion’ has not proven to be all that it was cracked up to be. “[Vote for] the guy who skipped Officer Jonathan Diller’s funeral… the one who kept checking his watch as the bodies returned from Afghanistan at Dover Air Force Base,” she explained. “That’s ‘the compassionate one’ just in case you weren’t paying attention.”
Clinton v. Trump
In Greenwald’s view, the former secretary of state’s message is likely to help one of the candidates in the race – though not the one she intended. “I’m saying this very seriously: If I was a part of the Trump campaign, I would set aside as many fund as I could to pay for Hillary Clinton to go on a speaking tour around the United States,” he said. “I can’t imagine anything more helpful to their cause than to have her heard from as much as possible.”
The same things that got Trump elected in 2016 against Clinton could, Greenwald said, be back in play if she continues to alienate voters. “The reason she lost [in 2016] is because Americans couldn’t stand her precisely because of this kind of mentality,” he explained. “Americans are looking at their political system, and they don’t like it. They’re looking at their way of life, and they’re very worried about it.”
And yet Clinton is telling these voters to get over it. “She’s basically saying – with not even a pretense of empathy – we don’t care about your dissatisfaction, you need to do what you’re told,” Greenwald concluded. “[It’s] just so entitled and so arrogant to issue these decrees to people with no attempt to persuade them. Who is going to respond to something like that?”
