Megyn’s Son Is Memorizing the U.S. State Capitals… and the Process Is Driving Her a Little Insane

I’ve been telling my team all day that I am going crazy in my head. I am literally driving myself nuts. Why, you ask?

Well, my 10 year old is learning the capitals of the states for school, and my 14 year old recommended a song that he found on YouTube that helps you learn them. Listen below (if you dare):

Clearly it’s effective because I cannot get this damn song out of my head. All I could think of as I was interviewing Nancy Grace and then Dave Aronberg and Mike Davis today was “Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Columbus is the capital of O-hi-o.” I could keep on going. We’re only like a quarter of the way through.

I am sorry to say that you guys are going to be stuck with this, if I have to be stuck with it. I will, however, give you one tip for when you have the earworm in your head. You need a ‘cleansing song’ that’s catchy enough to erase the culprit but not so catchy that it becomes your new earworm.

For me, that song is and has always been “Up on the Roof.” I start from the beginning “When this old world starts getting me down / And people are just too much for me to face…” and go from there.

I don’t know why, but it works. Thank God for that!
