‘I Don’t Like It’: Megyn Reacts to Oprah Winfrey’s Shocking Weight Loss and the Trend of Celebs Looking Too Thin

Oprah Winfrey has not been shy about attributing her latest slim down to GLP-1 injections. In fact, she wrote – or at least forwarded – a whole book about it. But some are wondering if the former talk show host has taken her most recent weight loss too far.

The 72 year old attended Paris Fashion Week with her bestie Gayle King this week, and both ladies looked noticeably thinner. But it was Winfrey’s tiny waist and angular face that had turned the most heads.

On Friday’s show, Megyn was joined by Mark Halperin, host of MK Media’s Next Up, to discuss Winfrey’s shocking appearance on the heels of several other Hollywood stars who are virtually unrecognizable due to extreme weight loss.

Oprah’s Latest Look

French fashion house Chloé had a front row full of A-listers, including Brooke Shields, Olivia Rodrigo, and Nina Dobrev, at its Paris Fashion Week show on Thursday, but it was Winfrey who garnered the lion’s share of attention and headlines thanks to what some are calling an “unrecognizable” new look (above).

“I would not have recognized this as Oprah Winfrey if it were not labeled as such by video online,” Megyn said.

While the media mogul’s outfit, which included high-waisted jeans, a white blouse, and a cropped suede jacket was definitely designed to emphasize her ever-shrinking waist, it wasn’t all an illusion. Winfrey was at the Stella McCartney presentation the day before (below) where she looked particularly slender in what seemingly should have been a more fitted double-breasted blazer.

Some pointed out Winfrey’s face looked also more angular than usual and she appeared somewhat unsteady on her feet in videos of her arrival to the Chloé show. That could simply be the byproduct of her heeled footwear, but Megyn questioned what she is going for.

“She is not skeletal, but she is extremely thin for Oprah, and, I have to say, I miss heavy Oprah. I don’t need 300-pound Oprah, but I miss somebody with a little weight on her body,” she said. “Is she going for hot at 72? Her whole thing was always that she was like a mother earth character who you could hug, who would feel your pain, and you could cry on her couch. And now she has gone full Demi Moore… in her seventies with the tight braid and the super tight outfit. I don’t like it.”

Giving Up the Bass

But Winfrey isn’t alone. Kelly Osbourne’s gaunt appearance at the Brit Awards last weekend concerned many, as did Demi Moore’s teeny tiny frame at the SAG Awards. Halperin said he has noticed it in the real world as well.

“I see people around my neighborhood, same thing. It is just these fallen faces,” he said. “I blame the doctors too, but… there are [other] ways to lose weight. Now, it’s harder for some people than others, and Oprah and I are the same way. Oprah and I run heavy, but… people have told me to look into [GLP-1 medications]. Like, why don’t you tell me to solder my eyes shut? It is not proven that this is a healthy way to live and you don’t look good.”

In Halperin’s mind, the so-called ‘quick fix’ isn’t worth the risk. “I just don’t understand making this life choice for anybody, particularly if you’re well off enough to, you know, order in some healthy food… Order some lean protein and some vegetables, do some portion control, go for a five-mile run, and just work it out,” he said. “But to take these injectables or, now, pills, if you’re Oprah Winfrey, I just don’t get it. I just don’t see how you possibly take that risk with your life. I just don’t at all.”

Of all the stars who have either admitted to taking weight loss medication or are speculated to have, Halperin said he finds one particularly egregious. “The one that really bothers me is Meghan Trainor because her biggest hit song is ‘All About That Bass,'” he said. “Meghan, you’ve given up the bass. You’ve gone all treble. You’re not supposed to give up your theme song, but she has.”
