Texas voters headed to the polls on Tuesday in a closely watched U.S. Senate primary race that may be giving us a glimpse at the future of the Democratic Party.
If you have watched any left-wing media of late, you’ve probably noticed they were excited about both the major candidates who ran to be the Dem nominee. James Talarico, a Texas state rep who is a Christian minister in training, faced off against Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who is well known for making some of the wildest claims of anyone in the Democratic Party.
For the folks on MSNOW, they couldn’t pick who they loved more. Nicolle Wallace called them “two of the most effective communicators” in the party, while Rachel Maddow said they “look like a great pair of running mates” and suggested one be “vice senator.”
Unfortunately for Rachel, there is no such thing as a “vice senator.” Only one could win, and Talarico prevailed last night despite Jasmine Crockett whining about election fraud.
Crockett’s Career Over?
That means Crockett’s role on the national stage is likely over. Her House seat was basically all but eliminated, but she chose not to run for reelection anyway and she didn’t make it in the Democrat primary for Senate. It is not like she lost in the general. She couldn’t even get through the Democrat primary, so that is done.
I have to say, she will be missed. Watch the video above for a trip down memory lane of some of the congresswoman’s most memorable moments. I think that greatest hits compilation has her about five minutes away from getting a weekend show at MSNOW.
Given the love that was espoused for her by Rachel and Nicolle, maybe one of them will be willing to give up their spot for a black woman in America. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do? White Privilege ladies, move aside. Jasmine Crockett needs a job.
Talarico’s Troubles
Now, Talarico is a white Christian male. There is nothing wrong with that, and perhaps the Democrats thought that was their best chance to win in red Texas. But I am not sure how comments like this are going to play in the Lone Star State. Here is what he said in a January debate about immigration:
“So what I’ve said is that our southern border should be like our front porch. There should be a giant welcome mat out front and a lock on the door. We can welcome immigrants who want to live the American dream. We can build a pathway to citizenship for those neighbors who have been here making us richer and stronger, and we can keep out people who need to do us harm.”
And his interpretation of scripture might not connect with your average Texas voter either. This is what he said about God during a 2021 Texas legislative hearing about trans sports bans:
“The first two lines of the Bible, the first two lines in Genesis, use two different Hebrew words to describe God. One is the masculine Hebrew noun for divinity. The second is the feminine Hebrew noun for spirit. God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is non-lok-binary.”
He is in trouble. Talarico will take on either incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who are headed for a runoff to be decided on May 26.
