‘It Was a Hot Mess’: Megyn Weighs in on AOC’s ‘Humiliating’ Performance at Munich Security Conference

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) decided to go over to the same Munich Security Conference where Vice President J.D. Vance tore up the place in stellar fashion last year and Secretary of State Marco Rubio was excellent in his messaging this past weekend, and it didn’t go so well for the progressive lawmaker.

Taiwan Troubles

AOC actually had the delusion that she could hang with those guys and make an appearance to show them what happens when a progressive comes to town. By now, you’ve probably seen the sound bite, but here is how she responded when asked during a panel discussion about Taiwan:

MODERATOR: Would and should the U.S. actually commit U.S. troops to defend Taiwan if China were to move?

AOC: Um, you know? I think that this is such a, you know, I think that this is a, this is, of course, of course a very long standing policy of the United States. And I think what we are hoping for is that we want to make sure that we never get to that point. And we want to make sure that we are moving in all of our economic research and our global positions to avoid any such confrontation and for that question to even arise.

What is missing in the written version are the extraordinarily long pauses she took as she stammered through her answer. Regardless, it was a hot mess. It was a disaster. She humiliated herself and proved that she is not ready for the international stage at all.

She would have been better off taking a page from fellow panelist Gretchen Whitmer, the Democrat governor of Michigan, who was like, ‘Oh, gee, as a governor, I don’t know anything.’ AOC could have said, ‘I’m just a U.S. House member. I was a bartender a few years ago. I’ll get to this international stuff when I run for president, which I’m not doing now.’

Instead, she humiliated herself. She humiliated womankind, if we’re being honest. Whitmer was a nightmare, too. But as it turned out, AOC had been training and preparing for this conference. According to Politico, she had an advisor – some top political operative – who had been advising her for three months, and that is the best she could do.

Attempted Clean Up

After she humiliated herself, she called her little stenographers over at The New York Times to try to completely recast what her mission was. They seemingly just wrote what she told them to as true stenographers will. But it doesn’t matter because all the independent voters who saw that know in their bones she is not ready, and no amount of cleanup by The New York Times is going to change that. It is too late.

I am sorry you humiliated yourself. It wasn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last. You are not ready. And the reason you are not ready is because you are not naturally smart, so, if you want to say anything resembling something smart, you are going to have to study. And apparently you need better teachers because the one who was with you for three months couldn’t get you to say the most basic answer on one of the most fundamental issues of our time, which is: What the hell are we going to do if the Chinese try to take Taiwan? Are we gonna get involved, or aren’t we?

Of course, the U.S. has had a policy of strategic ambiguity where we don’t really say what we are going to do. That is all she had to say. ‘We don’t really talk about that. We have a policy of strategic ambiguity. Next question.’ That’s it. But she didn’t know the answer. She couldn’t remember the prep. You could see the little eyeballs funneling through information she is clearly not familiar enough with. Honestly, this is very basic foreign policy. We don’t do a ton of foreign policy on the show, yet we all know that one. She is just not that bright.

Another Fail

And that wasn’t her only slip up. The congresswoman seemed to think it was going to be a real slam on President Trump to talk about the Maduro raid in Venezuela and some basic geography that she also didn’t know:

AOC: You know, we look at what happened in Venezuela, for example. It is not a uh, it is, it is not a remark on who Maduro was as a leader. He canceled elections. He was an anti-democratic leader. That doesn’t mean that we can kidnap a head of state and engage in acts of war just because the nation is below the equator.

You are an idiot. The nation is entirely above the equator. All you need is a map. Maybe they didn’t have that on the bar where you were serving the cocktails. And I don’t want to hear, ‘Oh, there’s nothing wrong with being a cocktail waitress.’ I know. I was one for quite some time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. But then, when you run for Congress and are a sitting congresswoman, you need to study. Then, you do need to brush up on a few bare facts before you use them in your little talking point slams of the president. You humiliated yourself, again.

She is not ready for prime time. But this is actually wonderful because she is considered the great Hispanic hope of the left. They really think this woman has a shot at becoming president because she is kind of cute and does social media well. Okay, great. We’ll see how that goes.
