New year, new drama for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Late last month, news broke that the former royals had parted ways with yet another publicist. Chief Communications Officer Meredith Maines told Page Six she is “pursuing a new opportunity in 2026” following “a year of inspiring work” with the couple.

Her departure means Harry and Meghan have now cycled through 11 PR pros in five years. And it also means the Suits actress may not have all the resources necessary to hawk the new cookbook she is reportedly working on.

On Friday’s show, Megyn was joined by Link Lauren, host of MK Media’s Spot On, to discuss the possibility of a Markle recipe book and why it may turn out to be her “final grift.”

Chef Meghan?

The Daily Mail reported this week that Markle is “lining up her first cookbook” to be released this spring. It could apparently include recipes for her “single skillet spaghetti,” “rainbow-themed fruit salad,” and “her beloved jams and marmalade,” in addition to offering hosting “tips and tricks” à la her widely panned Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

A source told The Daily Mail that the book will likely coincide with the release of additional products from Markle’s As Ever brand. More candles and housewares are expected, as is an expansion of her wine range.

Legal Matters

As you may recall, Megyn and Maureen Callahan made both the fruit salad and pasta dish purported to be the forthcoming book while filming the parody With Love, Megyn (watch it here), and they learned an inconvenient detail along the way that could land Markle in legal trouble.

“Maureen Callahan and I made both of those [dishes] only to find out that the ‘single skillet spaghetti’ was stolen from Martha Stewart. It’s not even her own recipe,” Megyn recalled. “So, I wonder whether she is going to get sued for a copyright infringement if she actually tries to pawn that off in a cookbook as her own thoughts.”

Royal Fail

Lauren, who shelled out his hard-earned money for an As Ever candle only to have it arrive without a wick, does not have high hopes for Markle’s latest culinary endeavor. “I don’t need a cookbook from Meghan Markle… All she can do is move pretzels from one bag into another,” he said. “It’s like taking driver’s ed from Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles. Like, you just don’t want to take cooking advice from Meghan Markle.”

Part of the problem, he said, is that her life is not normal. “I heard from so many women and mothers who are like, ‘We don’t have time when we’re getting our kids ready for school to do rainbow color coordinated fruit platters. We’re trying to get the kids out the door. Is the homework done? Do you have the slip you need for class,'” Lauren shared. “Because [Markle] and rich celebrities in Montecito and Los Angeles have full-time staffs and nannies, they can get up and leisurely make a rainbow fruit platter.”

That is why Lauren believes the rumored writing project only serves one purpose. “I think this cookbook is a final grift,” he posited. “I am sure she will get a big advance, and I am sure it will [at least] sell more than American Canto.”

Ultimately, Megyn said it is hard to take anything Harry and Meghan do seriously at this point. “The whole thing is a joke,” she concluded. “I mean, if she makes money off of that and actually does get a big advance, it will truly underscore how absurd the publishing industry has become.”
