Megyn Has Some Thoughts on Meghan Markle’s Much-Maligned World Series ‘Celebration’ Video

If you are a fan of The Megyn Kelly Show, we don’t need to tell you that Megyn is not a sports person. So, you may be surprised to learn that she found herself up late Saturday night with her two boys watching the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays in thrilling fashion to clinch their second straight World Series title.

Megyn and her kids celebrated bleary-eyed as the clock neared midnight, but you’ll just have to take her word for it because, like most normal people watching the game, she does not have their post-game reaction on tape. The same cannot be said for one Meghan Markle, who is now getting dragged on the internet for a bizarre clip she posted of herself – and a seemingly disinterested Prince Harry – after the Dodgers’ victory.

On Monday’s show, Megyn was joined by Walter Kirn, editor-at-large of County Highway, to discuss the video and why it reeks of desperation.

Megyn v. Meghan

As Megyn shared, her Saturday night was anything but ordinary. “I don’t watch sports. I don’t know anything about sports… but it was game seven, so my sons had it on and it kept going and going and going,” she recalled. “I stayed up for the whole thing, and it turned out the L.A. Dodgers won, which I was very happy to see because… I was rooting for the Americans.”

She called the extra-inning marathon something “out of a movie” and said it was “thrilling” even for a “non-sports fan” like herself. But her enthusiasm had its limits. “One thing I didn’t try to do, though, was pretend that this was my team or that it was a moment that brought me to my feet cheering with tears,” Megyn explained. “Because I’m a normal person who doesn’t try to do that when I’m not an avowed sports fan.”

Megyn said she would put Markle – who, to be fair, grew up in the Los Angeles area – in the “same camp” as someone “who is not a big tweeter, or promoter, or anything, as far as I can tell, about sports at all.” And yet they had two very different reactions to what unfolded.

“I mean, I was sitting there in my family room… with my oldest child… and, weirdly, I did not have a camera on us. I wasn’t ready to film us at the winning moment. My eyes, as my son’s eyes, were focused on the television because that was what was interesting,” she quipped. “But weirdly, Meghan Markle just happened to have herself on camera, along with Prince Harry, at that moment.”

The Cringe Video

After Meghan and Harry were controversially spotted front row – a row ahead of Dodgers legend and Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax – at Dodger Stadium for game four of the series in matching L.A. caps, Markle decided to further cement her fandom by posting her ‘reaction’ to the Dodgers’ game seven win in a now-expired Instagram Story.

In the black and white video, the former royal jumped up and down and shrieked alongside her friend Kelly McKee Zajfen. At one point, she made her way over to kiss an unamused-looking Harry, who was stretched out in a recliner.

Social media wasted no time accusing Markle of staging the celebration, while Kirn questioned the source of the footage. “Is that their security camera that they turned on,” he wondered. “It didn’t look like anybody was actually filming. That looked like automatic coverage.”

Megyn agreed. “Yeah, so what they did was go back and check their security camera for a bit of themselves and then post it,” she posited. “That whole reaction was as authentic as those Lauren Sánchez boobs we talked about earlier.”

Kirn gave Harry some credit for not “pretending to be an American” by being interested in the outcome after “doing a lot of pretending to be an American” since he and his wife left the United Kingdom, but it turns out the prince may have actually just been bummed.

Zajfen reshared Markle’s cringe video with a caption that suggested Harry (or “H” as Markle and co. refer to him) may have been rooting for the Jays. “Best game ever! Sorry H your team didn’t win but mine did,” she wrote. “Dodgers I LOVE YOU!”

All About Me

While that revelation doesn’t exactly track with the his-and-hers Dodgers hats the couple wore last week, Kirn said the more realistic explanation for Harry’s behavior is probably that he didn’t expect his reaction to be seen by millions.

“He didn’t know that was going to be released worldwide. He thought he was in his own home with his kooky wife and her friend, and he didn’t have any reason to behave,” Kirn suggested. “He must be so pissed right now. [He must be thinking,] ‘Wait, you released that? I had a chance to get up and hug you… but I didn’t know we’re going to use our home security footage as TikTok. Tell me next time.'”

At this point, Megyn said Harry should know better. “She never misses an opportunity to make it about herself,” she explained. “I mean, she parachuted into Uvalde after a bunch of children were murdered and made sure she got caught by those cameras. Then, just a couple weeks ago, she was caught going past the spot where Princess Diana was so brutally killed in that terrible car crash with her bare feet swinging in the car without a care in the world and the music playing.”

“And now she peppers it here,” Megyn continued, “with, ‘See, there I am. It’s all about me and my joy because I swear I’m authentic. I’m a Californian. I love the Dodgers, just like normal people, even though I’m… losing my tenth publicist right now… because I bully everyone.'”
