‘Nepo Baby’ Chelsea Clinton Has a New Anti-MAHA Podcast That No One Wants to Listen to

Chelsea Clinton is out with a new podcast that is taking aim at the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) movement.

A collaboration between Lemonada Media (the network behind Meghan Markle’s most recent failed podcast venture) and the Clinton Foundation, That Can’t Be True! promises to join “Dr.” Chelsea Clinton with “a group of doctors, dietitians, and parenting experts” to “shine light on what’s true, what’s misleading, and why it all matters.”

On Thursday’s show, Megyn was joined by RealClearPolitics’ Tom Bevan, Carl Cannon, and Andrew Walworth to discuss the former first daughter’s latest career pivot and why it doesn’t show much promise.

The Podcast

Clinton promoted her second foray into the podcast lane (her first, In Fact with Chelsea Clinton, stopped airing in April 2022) on social media Wednesday. “How many of us have looked at the latest headlines and thought ‘that can’t be true,’” she wrote. “Starting tomorrow, I hope you will join me and a series of experts on my new podcast…Together, we will sort fact from fiction – especially on issues impacting our health.”

In the one-minute trailer for the show, Clinton introduced herself as “an advocate, author, investor, teacher, and, most importantly, mom,” as she wondered: “Is it just me, or are things actually really weird right now in the world of public health?”

The “weirdness” according to Clinton, is because “every day brings confusing headline or far fetched claim, not to mention the cuts to cancer research, to women’s health research, to brain research, to the dismantling of the suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ+ kids.”

“People’s lives are at risk,” she declared before promising to “navigat[e] this insane time right alongside you” with the help of “trusted experts.”

The first two episodes dropped Thursday. One called “Misconceptions on Midwives & America’s Broken Birthing System” features former Teen Vogue editor and Project Runway judge Elaine Welteroth. The second, “Setting the Record Straight on Seed Oils, Raw Milk & Formula,” has Clinton talking to registered dietician Jessica Knurick.

‘Nepo Baby’

As her own introduction suggested, Clinton has tried her hand at many careers over the years – and none of them have really panned out. Megyn doesn’t foresee this being any different. “Who in the world is going to listen to this? Who is saying, ‘I need more Chelsea Clinton in my life? If only Chelsea Clinton would advise me on the day’s news, especially the MAHA movement,'” she asked. “She has zero expertise that will help her advise on this. She’s not a real doctor.”

To that point, Walworth noted that Clinton has a Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University. However, her doctorate degree is in philosophy. “I don’t hold it against her that she is not a [medical] doctor and that she wants to talk about this,” he said. “But I do think she shouldn’t call herself a doctor if she’s talking about medical issues. I find that really misleading… I would urge her to stop doing that because I think it hurts her credibility to the extent she has any on the topic.”

Megyn said the issue Clinton and so many public figures who try to enter the podcast space face is that they don’t have what it takes to build and maintain an audience. “There’s a reason she failed at everything,” she said. “You can’t just launch a podcast and expect people to come. You actually have to have done something.”

“And here’s the other thing, in order to resonate in the podcast world, you have to have an interesting personality,” Megyn added. “You either have to be clever, or nice, or controversial, or something… She is none of those things. She is a bore. She is a snobby, snotty, nasty… And so it’s not going to go well.”

Ultimately, Megyn thinks Clinton has more in common with another first child than the next great podcaster. “Really, she is the ultimate nepo baby, which people can’t stand… I do think Chelsea Clinton’s time in the national spotlight has come and gone,” she said. “She is one of the most annoying people on X. She is constantly defending the Clinton Foundation like it’s this squeaky clean organization… And we’re supposed to look at her and pretend like she is some sort of an authority? Why, again? She is basically Hunter Biden in a dress and without the drug addiction.”
