Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has made a name for herself in Congress as an “America First” firebrand who does not shy away from controversy. That has led to some notable clashes with other high-profile politicians and politicos on the left and right.
Chief among them? Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) and right-wing influencer Laura Loomer.
On Tuesday’s show, Rep. Greene joined Megyn to discuss some of the controversies and how she really feels about Crockett and Loomer.
On Jasmine Crockett
It is no secret that Rep. Crockett has been trying to raise her national profile with some attention-grabbing comments and antics, but one of her headline-making moments actually involved Rep. Greene herself.
The two sit on the House Oversight Committee together and are also both part of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Subcommittee, and they got into a viral spat last May during a hearing regarding contempt proceedings against then-Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Greene told Crockett “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading,” after the Texas congresswoman was, according to Greene, “running off her mouth.” And Crockett responded by referring to her Georgia colleague as a “bleach-blonde, bad-built, butch body.”
When Megyn asked if it is possible to reach across the aisle and work with someone like Crockett, Greene suggested their interactions have gotten no more cordial. “Well, she is not a real person,” she said. “Some interesting things that I’ve always observed about her is how she treats her staff. She treats her staff like they are just beneath her.”
The congresswoman claimed Crockett “always has one of her young male staffers… carry her big, heavy handbag for her” and once had an aide fetch her a “big, white, fluffy pillow that they put behind her back” during an Oversight Committee hearing.
“Who does that,” Greene asked. “She puts on this image that she understands the black American struggle. But let’s face it… she is a complete fake. She is as fake as her eyelashes; she is as fake as her hair; she is as fake as her fingernails; and she is such a massive fraud.”
On Laura Loomer
More recently, Rep. Greene has publicly feuded with Loomer over the Trump administration’s position on the Israel-Hamas war. Loomer has been a vocal advocate for Israel, while Greene has called for less U.S. involvement and characterized the country’s military action in Gaza as a “humanitarian crisis” and “genocide.”
After Greene suggested Loomer was more “MIGA” (a.k.a. Make Israel Great Again) than “MAGA” (read: Make America Great Again), Loomer ratcheted up the attacks by questioning the congresswoman’s character and resurfacing past allegations about her personal life.
But Rep. Greene said their tumultuous history pre-dates the Israel conflict. “I’ve actually known Laura for years… Back in like 2017 and 2018 we were friends, not close friends, but we knew each other when she ran for Congress [in Florida],” she recalled. “The first time, I endorsed her, donated to her, supported her when she ran.”
Greene said that when Loomer “jumped a district” and primaried Rep. Dan Webster (R-FL) in 2022, she declined to “get involved” and things went south. “She was furious at me, and then everything kind of plummeted from there,” she said. “So, it actually started back then.”
While Greene agreed with Megyn’s assessment that Loomer is “very effective” at “digging and finding dirt on people, especially those who cross Trump,” she said the influencer has made a habit of shooting inside the tent.
“Not only does she attack me all the time, she attacked [former Rep.] Matt Gaetz… She attacked [Rep.] Brian Jack, who used to work for President Trump,” Greene said. “She attacks some of the most loyal people to the president, people that are unapologetically America first… those of us that fight the hardest. For some reason, she attacks us the most.”
“She is a great researcher. I give her full credit for that,” she added. “But it is what she does with it. Once she finds information, she will put a spin on it and, by the end of it, she has taken facts and… turns it into lies.”
