Megyn Shares Behind-the-Scenes Photos from Her Patriotic Fourth of July Celebration

Megyn and her family hosted their annual Fourth of July celebration at the beach over the weekend with friends and neighbors, and you won’t be surprised to hear they went all out for the patriotic festivities. As always, the day included a reenactment – complete with colonial-inspired garb – of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

On Tuesday’s show, Megyn covered New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani’s July 4th message (which was expertly picked apart by Vice President J.D. Vance in a speech over the weekend) that referred to the United States as “contradictory” and “unfinished.” That led her to share one of her favorite parts of founding document:

“…But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security. Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government…”

“That is what the day is about – reminding us why we formed this ‘more perfect union.’ What those ‘unalienable rights’ were that our founders recognized, and put into writing, and crafted the entire government behind,” Megyn noted. “It is not Zohran Mamdani’s ‘we’re unfinished,’ ‘we’re imperfect,’ ‘I’m proud of it, but no kings.’ This guy doesn’t get it.”

As Megyn shared, the whole purpose of recreating some of the iconic scenes from July 1776 is to ensure we always remember where we came from. “We go over what led to the Declaration, like how bad the king was and how people had had it, and then we read the document,” she explained. “We talk about Thomas Paine and Common Sense and how revolution was in the air. All of our kids are growing up hearing about this and hearing about what was going on.”

Getting Ready

Megyn put the finishing touches on her son Yates’ look. “I get the costumes and I provide them to everybody – some I own and some I rent from my friend for at this great costume place,” she shared. “The owner always says to my assistant Abby, ‘Behind every strong woman is a great gay man.’ I love him.”
