File this one under “mission accomplished.”
In what can only be assumed was a desperate attempt to make headlines, Charlize Theron sat down with Alex Cooper on the latest episode of Call Her Daddy and made some vulgar revelations about her sex life and single motherhood that have since gone viral.
On Thursday’s show, Megyn was joined by Stu Burguiere, host of BlazeTV’s Stu Does America, to discuss the awkward interview and what might be driving the TMI.
On One-Night Stands
Graphic and explicit sex talk is commonplace on Call Her Daddy – the very program Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris decided to make her case to the American public on last fall – and Theron turned out, by her own admission, to be an unusual choice for an interview.
When Cooper asked the 49 year old if she “had any sex tips for the girls,” the Oscar winner initially said she was “the last person to ask” because she has “probably had three one night stands in my entire life.”
Yet she had a bombshell up her sleeve. “But I did just recently f-ck a 26 year old and it was really f-cking amazing. And I’ve never done that. I was like, ‘Oh, this is great,'” she claimed. “I’m having the kind of sex I never had in my twenties or in my thirties… We should be the ones that are like ‘F-ck you. I’m going to have an orgasm.’”
Megyn said the exchange was “shockingly inappropriate” and laughable. “I think I just found my next parody. She played me in a movie, and I can play her in one too,” she said in reference to Theron’s role in the 2019 movie Bombshell. “What’s going on there?”
Burguiere suggested the feigned bravado was overcompensation. “I guess that is supposed to make her edgy. Like, it’s supposed to be, ‘Hey, look at me. I’ll say it,'” he surmised. “It seems pathetic; it seems like you’re trying too hard; and there is an element there of… trying to pretend that [you’re] something else. Maybe it is just that she is very boring and stays home on Friday nights.”
Megyn had her own theory. “I kind of call bullsh-t because I believe that Charlize Theron probably prefers women. That is my belief. I am entitled to my opinion,” she said. “I don’t think that she is telling the truth about the 26 year old… I feel like this is an overcompensation.”
On Motherhood
Theron was raised by her mother and was 15 when she witnessed her fatally shoot her alcoholic father in self-defense. She is now raising two adopted children of her own, one of whom is trans. In another cringeworthy moment, Theron sounded off about the ‘joys’ of being a single mom:
“I think people look at it… in our society as… ‘something must be wrong with her.’ With women, it’s always, like, ‘Something must be wrong with her. She can’t keep a man.’ And… it’s never part of the discussion of like, wow, she’s really living her truth; like, she’s living in her happiness; like, this is actually a choice that she made.
I want to, like, look at them and just be like, ‘Do you know how f-cking great it is to live exactly how I want to live, to experience motherhood exactly how I wanted to experience it. And my f-cking god, do I love every single day of it. I love that I don’t have to share them with somebody. I love that I don’t have to run every f-cking thing by a guy… Like, I f-cking love that. I don’t have to do any of that stuff.”
Megyn said the degree of swearing in the interview was extreme even by her own standards and said it is part of what undermined the credibility of the conversation. “This is an affectation where she is trying to act like, again, the young, cool girl. ‘I get it, and I don’t need a man,'” she noted. “She’s got two children… She is super proud of the fact that there is no father in the picture… She doubled down on how little she needs a man in her life.”
In Burguiere’s view, Theron is offering “a psychotic view” of what marriage and parenthood actually is. “Yes, of course, everyone has their frustrations in a relationship. I suppose sitting by yourself all the time, left to your own devices, can be appealing for a time,” he said. “But you know what? Almost everybody eventually gets mature enough to figure out that that is not the optimal way to live. Eventually, people wind up trying to find something that is a little bit deeper than ‘I get to do what I want for me all the time.’ That is apparently where she is and apparently doesn’t want to leave.”
‘Have Some Class’
Given all of the accolades Theron has amassed over the course of her very successful acting career, Megyn wasn’t sure what she had to gain from this particular performance. “She is 49 years old; she is trying to sound like she is 26 years old; and it is inappropriate. It feels weird,” she said. “She is one of our biggest stars… Act like it. Have some class.”
“It is a very strange thing to see one of our best-known actresses sit down… with this sex podcaster talking about their orgasms and who they effed,” Megyn concluded. “It’s a turn off.”
