The Secret Service suspended two female officers following a late night brawl outside of Barack and Michelle Obama’s Washington, D.C., residence last week.
As reported on Thursday’s AM Update, the incident began when an unidentified agent reportedly called her supervisor around 2:30 a.m. on May 21 because she was upset that her shift replacement was late.
RealClearPolitics’ Susan Crabtree posted audio of a call on a recorded Secret Service line on X last Thursday. “Can I get a supervision down to Delta 2 immediately before I whoop this girl’s ass,” the agent asked.
RealClearPolitics also exclusively obtained the security camera footage showing the two officers in a physical altercation. The pair can be seen pushing and shoving each other next to an idling patrol car while wearing their uniforms. Watch:
The Secret Service confirmed the authenticity of the report in a statement to The Megyn Kelly Show: “The individuals involved were suspended from duty and this matter is subject of an internal investigation. The Secret Service has a very strict code of conduct for all employees, and any behavior that violates that code is unacceptable.”
Former President Obama’s office has not yet released a statement on the incident, but it is yet another black eye for the agency that is still under fire for last year’s security failures that led to two near-miss assassination attempts against then-candidate Donald Trump.
Critics and some lawmakers have cited the Secret Service’s internal DEI push, including former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle’s stated goal of reaching 30 percent female representation, as a factor in the security breakdowns. Cheatle announced her resignation 10 days after the Butler assassination attempt last July amid furor over her agency’s performance.
Many of those same concerns are now resurfacing in relation to this latest report. The Trump administration has pledged to rid the government of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The president signed an executive order earlier this year directing all federal agencies to dismantle their DEI programs.
