I am just back from the Super Bowl, where patriotism was on full display. It was amazing to witness after so many years of woke programming, commercials, and divisive messaging.
I have never been to the Super Bowl before, and I really thoroughly enjoyed myself (you can check out all of my pictures from the weekend here). I have to say, it is one of those things where everybody is in a great mood, people are there celebrating their teams, and it is a fun competition.
Meet and Greet
I did not realize it would be such a networking spot. Everybody from corporate America was there because they network there, which is not really up my alley to be perfectly honest. In any event, I met a lot of absolutely lovely people at the game and in the lead-up to it. They were such accomplished people who had such great humor and were so down to earth. You would never have known they run these very big, powerful companies.
We saw country music star Lainey Wilson. What a class act. She is super talented and was nice to everybody. I had a deep conversation with her about God and religion; where she is at, where I’m at. She sent me some great recommendations, including an episode of Shawn Ryan’s show that really resonated with her.

My husband Doug got to meet Walter Isaacson, which was very cool. Doug is an author, as you know, and Walter Isaacson is one of the best biographers in the land. He was totally gracious with his time and very nice to Doug. I love to see Doug meet somebody he admires because it is a short list for him.

I am probably going to get him in trouble, but Rob Lowe came over to me at one of the parties – yes, really, Brat Pack star, Rob Lowe – to tell me he is a fan of the show. He didn’t say what his politics were, but I think he appreciated the honesty of what we do.
A Near Miss
As I mentioned last week, Doug and I were invited to the game by YouTube. Our seats ended up being basically right in between Taylor Swift and Donald Trump. She was in the box to my right along with her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s family (you can see her in the pic below), and the presidential suite was to my left.

At one point, I tried to use the single-stall bathroom that was closest to me, and I think I almost walked in on Taylor Swift in the bathroom. I am really glad that did not happen. And it was in my quest to find the regular ladies room that I ran into Donald Trump, Jr.
He is such a sweetheart. I have never seen him in a situation where he is anything other than totally magnanimous, kind, and warm. It is always, ‘What do you need? How can I be of help to you?’ He is just the most genuine, likable guy. Truly, I am a huge fan of this.
He was with his new girlfriend, who was a super gracious, very nice person. They were going the opposite direction as me when he said, ‘Oh, have you seen my dad? Do you want to say hi?’ It was out of his way, but he turned around to take me back into the suite. It was very kind. When I got in there, it was a who’s who of Republican politics.
Talking to Team Trump
I got to meet White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. That was a highlight. She is a 27-year-old star. She is crushing it. She has a one-year-old little boy and is, of course, having all the struggles of new motherhood while she is on the road constantly with President Trump.

What she is doing is a service to her country. She is, I think, truly just a patriot. She loves Trump, she loves the country, and I think she is correct that she can find a balance between serving her country and the president and taking care of her little boy. She also has a very supportive husband. So, say a prayer for Karoline. That is a big challenge, and I think she is doing a wonderful job.
I also got to spend some time with Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL), who was there with her teenage son. He is a 14-year-old freshman in high school. I told him how cool his mom is. She is there taking our son to the Super Bowl. Hello!
I saw Eric Schmitt, the former attorney general of Missouri who now is a U.S. Senator from the state. He has been doing great work on so many issues that are near and dear to all of our hearts.
The president was next to his daughter Ivanka, who has been far less in the public eye this time around but is a total class act. She and Jared Kushner, I think, decided to recede from political life because they just got completely battered and bruised. All of the Trump kids did, and not everybody wants the downside of what comes with putting yourself out there politically.
Ivanka looked luminous and was totally warm. That is true of the whole family. I think their natural closeness with one another leads to, like, an inner joy. I do. They are extremely close. They are extremely loyal to one another. They know they have that sort of wolf pack. And I think if you build that same dynamic in your own family, you will have the same closeness with your kids and you will have the same camaraderie, even when they are all adults and already producing the next generation.
Seeing the President
And then, of course, I had a great chat with President Trump. After I left him, he banned the penny – or maybe that was right before. I took a picture with him, Don Jr., and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana. He is a total patriot who took a bullet from a lunatic and has gone on to do wonders in the Republican Party. He is very loyal to the president and a close ally.

The overall sentiment I got from Team Trump was that they are thrilled that the fight the left is choosing to pick is over the firing of bureaucrats and the jobs of bureaucrats. It’s like, Boo, boo. A bureaucrat has lost their lifetime employment on the public dime.
They have accurately deduced that is not going to pull on anybody’s heartstrings. As Trump said to Bret Baier during his pre-game interview, he ran on this and he told people he was going to do this.
Anyway, the whole evening was just such an uplifting tour. You walk through and see this person to whom you’re grateful, and that person to whom you’re grateful. It was a great weekend.
