Have You Noticed Kamala Harris’ Campaign Website Does Not Feature a Single Policy Position?

If you want to know where Kamala Harris stands on any policy position or key issue related to the 2024 presidential campaign, don’t go to her website to find out.

The official campaign site of the newly minted Democrat nominee features plenty of ways to donate but exactly zero ways to find out how Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, would govern.

On Thursday’s show, Megyn was joined by The Daily Wire’s Andrew Klavan to discuss why Harris is getting away with running a very vague campaign.

Keeping Quiet

Since Joe Biden stepped aside and endorsed his vice president, the media has been working overtime to reframe Harris’ idiosyncrasies as her strengths. The 59 year old is the fun “wine aunt” who is living her best “brat summer.” Her running mate, meanwhile, has been branded a “cool dad” by fawning fans in the press and on social media.

All the while, Harris has avoided giving a formal interview or holding a press conference since her coronation as Biden’s successor – instead opting for teleprompter speeches at campaign events and brief off-the-record chats with the journalists who travel with her.

Critics have likened the lack of access to the Biden-Harris ‘basement campaign’ of 2020, only this time there is no global pandemic blame it on. But it is not just the media blackout that is raising eyebrows.

The Harris-Walz Website

Earlier this week, Megyn noted that KamalaHarris.com, the official website of the Harris-Walz campaign, did not feature any substantive information about the ticket. She was tipped off to that fact by a friend. “My friend, who is a recovering Democrat who is now going to campaign for Trump, sent it to me,” Megyn shared. “She was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding. This is all that’s there.’”

What’s there is a splash page that asks visitors to “rush a donation” to “defeat Donald Trump” (screenshot above). Once you get past that, you are greeted with a homepage that has another opportunity to donate, a graphic with Harris and Walz, and an email signup form (screenshot below).

The navigation bar features a link to a generic bio of Harris, a generic bio of Walz, a campaign event schedule, merch, and, of course, another “donate” button. “I was like, this can’t really be her website and, indeed, it is her website,” Megyn said. “We don’t know where she stands on anything because she has flip-flopped via a campaign spokesperson on some things but not on others… They all were toward more moderate things that would make her more electable.”

The Trump-Vance Website

The homepage of the Trump-Vance campaign website, DonaldJTrump.com, certainly makes it easy to donate and volunteer, but it also puts policy front and center (screenshot below).

Clicking “platform” in the navigation bar brings visitors to a page (screenshot below) that links to the official Republican Party platform, in addition to outlining Trump’s “20 core promises to make America great again.”

Those include the GOP nominee’s stance on illegal immigration, inflation, foreign policy, radical gender ideology, and more. “You go on Trump’s website, it tells you he has ‘Agenda 47’ and he has all the things that he wants to do,” Klavan explained. “If you click on those, it takes you to very detailed white papers of the Republican platform.”

Trump vs. Kamala

In Klavan’s view, the contrast is clear, but that doesn’t mean Harris won’t be able to get away with running on ‘vibes’ like she has been thus far. “[Trump said], ‘We’re going to have to deal with Kamala Harris,’ and yet he seemed kind of totally taken aback by her presence and not really knowing how to attack her,” he noted. “That has given the Democrats a good week.”

So while he admitted “there is not one policy statement on the Kamala Harris website,” there might not need to be. “There is some joy in the Democrat Party that the people who were going to sit this election out because they could not bring themselves to vote for a dead man are now turning up. There’s no question about this,” Klavan concluded. “We shouldn’t ignore the fact that fantasy is powerful, and a lot of people live in fantasy.”
