‘He Knows Nothing’: Megyn Slams Dr. Fauci’s COVID Response After Latest Congressional Grilling

Anthony Fauci, MD, may have stepped down from his role of director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and chief medical adviser to the president in late 2022, but Congress still has plenty of questions for him on the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 83 year old was on Capitol Hill on Monday for a heated hearing before the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic during which he was grilled on the origins of COVID-19 and the policies he promoted.

On Monday’s show, Megyn reacted to what we continue to learn about Dr. Fauci’s lies, his lack of accountability, and his unwillingness to accept responsibility.

The Heated Hearing

There were a number of headlines to come out of Fauci’s testimony on Monday, which started off with his denying he ever tried to suppress the COVID-19 lab leak theory in his opening statement.

“Anthony Fauci – everyone’s favorite villain or superhero, I don’t think there are a lot of us who are in between – is back on the stand now in front of a House committee that is probing how we handled COVID, but really his dishonesty in responding to congressional inquiries over the past few years,” Megyn noted.

Lawmakers took turns putting Fauci on the hot seat about everything from his top associate’s use of a private email to avoid Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s controversial pandemic-era restrictions like social distancing and the masking of schoolchildren.

Policy Problems

Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX), for one, asked if the stay-at-home orders that saw businesses, churches, and schools close for months on end were justified. Fauci claimed they were given the circumstances but did acquiesce on one point. “Again, this was when we were trying to stop the tsunami of deaths that were occurring early on,” he said. “How long you kept them going is debatable.”

Cloud followed up with a question about mask mandates, including the controversial policy for children under the age of five. Fauci said it was the right decision “when 5,000 people a day were dying.”

But Cloud didn’t back down. “Mask mandates for children under the age of five,” he asked. “There’s scientific evidence supporting that?” Fauci was forced to admit there was not. “There was no study that did masks on kids before,” Fauci responded. “You couldn’t do the study.”

As Megyn noted, there is a simple reason that study could not be completed. “Because it would have been abusive, but there is never going to be accountability for Dr. Anthony Fauci,” she said. “The left has determined he must be lauded. He is not getting tried on false felony charges or real felony charges for that matter. He is going to remain a superhero to them. It’s disgusting.”

As for the six-feet social distancing mandate, Fauci shifted blame to the CDC. “The CDC was responsible for those kinds of guidelines for schools, not me,” he said. “It had little to do with me since I didn’t make the recommendation.”

‘He Knows Nothing’

Megyn said it is “absolutely infuriating” to watch Fauci continue to shirk responsibility for his role in some of the most draconian elements of the country’s pandemic response that we now know were not based on any sort of scientific reasoning or evidence.

“He doesn’t remember the data that supported that because there was none,” she explained. “All the studies that have been done – left, right, and otherwise – since the pandemic stopped have proven him wrong and the left-wing media just won’t do any sort of come to Jesus moment where they look at their own mistakes and they admit that they are the ones who led us down this path.”

While Fauci was built up to be the all-knowing, well-meaning expert, Megyn said it was “all an act” with dire consequences. “I applaud the House’s effort to call attention to the fact that he knows nothing… and he tortured our children both [with masks] and with mandatory vaccines that cause myocarditis that wasn’t disclosed,” she concluded. “There are still kids suffering from that, not to mention those who have died… because of these animals who pretended they knew answers that they didn’t know.”
