Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. continues to poll between five and 15 percent in 2024 polls, which means his independent run for president has the potential to be one of the most consequential third-party runs in decades.
While he has appealed to some on the right with his stance on COVID-19 vaccines and “medical freedom,” his evolving position on social issues like radical gender ideology and abortion have raised eyebrows.
On Thursday’s show, Kennedy joined Megyn to discuss his 2024 campaign and where he stands on those issues today.
Radical Gender Ideology
First up, Kennedy shared what led him to change his position on “gender reassignment surgery” and radical transgender ideology, why he now supports banning these procedures for minors under the age of 18, and the big business behind the medicalization of children in the United States today.
Abortion
As it relates to abortion, the presidential hopeful made headlines earlier this month for comments he made on Sage Steele’s podcast in support of late-term abortion. While he told Steele that “every abortion is a tragedy,” he added that he does not “trust” the government to have “jurisdiction over people’s bodies.” When pressed on whether or not there should be a limit on when women can end a pregnancy, he said there should not be – “even if it’s full term.”
He walked those remarks back amid backlash, and he sought to further clarify where he stands on the issue with Megyn. They discussed why it has taken so much time to firm up his position and whether his current stance is closer to President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump.
