Taylor Swift may have caused a little bad blood when she accepted her Album of the Year award at the 2024 Grammys on Sunday.

Celine Dion made a surprise appearance at music’s biggest night to present the top honor amid her ongoing health battle, yet some viewers expressed disappointment with how Swift handled the situation.

On Tuesday’s show, Megyn was joined by Sage Steele to discuss the awkward moment and why they believe Swift would probably like a “do over” on the moment.

Celine Snubbed?

When host Trevor Noah announced Dion was on hand to present the coveted Album of Year award, the audience at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles rose to its feet to greet the superstar.

It was a rare public outing for the six-time Grammy winner due to her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome, and she was clearly honored by the ovation. “Thank you all. I love you right back,” Dion told the crowd. “When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart.”

When she announced Swift had won the Album of Year gramophone for a record-setting fourth time, the “Anti-Hero” singer was visibly surprised. She frantically made her way toward the stage with producer Jack Antonoff and collaborator Lana del Rey in tow. Once on stage, she looked around for other members of her team before awkwardly taking the trophy from Dion without so much as an acknowledgement.

You can watch the moment below:

During her speech, Swift once again failed to acknowledge the “My Heart Will Go On” songstress, which stood in sharp contrast to the night’s previous winners. When Miley Cyrus was awarded her first-ever Grammy earlier in the evening by Mariah Carey, the former Disney star paid tribute to the presenter in her remarks.

We Need to Calm Down?

The internet wasted no time reacting to the perceived snub. “Maybe it’s nitpicking, maybe it’s real, but Taylor came out there and wasn’t exactly generous about Celine,” Megyn noted. “People are saying she is falling for the ‘everyone loves me’ thing that can happen to these superstars. I don’t know whether it’s true.”

Steele admitted there was a “noticeable” lack of affection from Swift, but she was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. “I can’t imagine it was intentional, but it stinks because it was noticeable and just bad timing with Celine… suffering from these health issues,” she said. “She was really caught up in that moment… and she was just all over the place, which we kind of love her for. She she makes fun of herself for being like that.”

After the show, Dion appeared to squash the snub rumors by posting a slideshow on social media that included a picture of her and Swift embracing backstage. Steele said she wouldn’t be surprised if the photo was orchestrated by Swift’s PR team in the wake of the immediate backlash.

Regardless, Swift would no doubt like that moment back. “I think if Taylor could do it again, she’d probably start first and foremost by talking about Celine, the legends who helped pave the way for her,” Steele said. Megyn agreed. “I’m sure she’d love to have a do over,” she concluded.
