‘This Is Sad’: Megyn Reacts to Leonardo DiCaprio Dating a Teenager

Leonardo DiCaprio has long been considered one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors. The 48-year-old has dated supermodels like Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli, Toni Garrn, and Nina Agdal (to name a few), but the Wolf of Wall Street star never settled down. As the internet has recently pointed out, he also rarely dates women over the age of 25. It doesn’t help that he split from his last serious girlfriend, Camila Morrone, a few months after she hit the quarter-century mark.

Amid being linked to 27-year-old Gigi Hadid, DiCaprio was just spotted out in New York City with Israeli model Eden Polani. Why is it newsworthy that an actor known for May-December romances is once again making headlines for canoodling with a younger woman? Well, Polani is just 19. On Tuesday’s show, Megyn was joined by the hosts of The Fifth Column – Michael Moynihan, Kmele Foster, and Matt Welch – and took a closer look at DiCaprio’s dating habits.

Does Age Matter?

Pictures of DiCaprio and Polani surfaced after the pair seemingly attended a concert. Megyn noted that recent images of the Titanic actor show the one-time heartthrob looking “big” and “bloated,” as though he “partied a little bit too much.”

That is just one of the reasons she is concerned for his well being. “He’s in the news every week for how he won’t date anybody past age 25,” Megyn said. “If he does, it makes news, and now he’s actually gone down to a teenager.” While Megyn admitted that Polani is “gorgeous,” she also noted that the model “could literally be his daughter.”

Megyn finds the situation “sad” because she feels like DiCaprio “is never going to know the joy of meeting somebody who he can fall in deep love with and build a family with.” Instead, “he’s just going to keep banging teenagers for the rest of his life,” she added.

The Fifth Column guys weren’t sure that’s such a bad thing. “You make it sound so horrible,” Moynihan quipped. Personally, Walsh said he abides by the “French rule” of dating, which is to divide your age in half and add seven years to establish a lower limit. “For me, my God, that’s 34 because I’m an old person now,” he joked. “I think that’s a wise course of action towards happiness.”

Teenage Dream

In an effort to give the Academy Award winner the benefit of the doubt, Walsh did float a theory. “Have you heard Leonardo DiCaprio talk about climate change and stuff? He’s got the mind of a 19 year old,” he explained. “He’s a terrific actor… he’s great at what he does, but he’s not a smart person evidently.”

With that in mind, perhaps DiCaprio is simply dating people who match him intellectually. “Maybe that’s the level of conversation that he wants to have – a 19-year-old hot girl who’s never had to challenge anybody with her wit,” Walsh concluded.
